SERVICE UNAVAILABLE ERROR AND INFO ON A MOBILE BROADBAND SYSTEM

Since the early of this week, there were several complaints with regards to the Prepaid Broadband offered by Celcom. This package operate using WCDMA network spectrum which offers speed of up to maximum 384Kbps only. The most common problem, is that whenever subscriber want to do the connection, error message pop up saying that service is unavailable.

Root Problem:
Most of the case is due to the problem with the GSN (GPRS Support Node) system. Whenever subscriber want to initiate Internet sessions, a PDP (Packet Data Protocol) will be created and processed by the SGSN. In this case, to establish a connection to the world wide web, a valid link must be available on HLR (Home Location Register). If the link status was invalid or incorrect, then you will have this service unavailable error.

Solutions:
The root problem above may happen if the WCDMA network is down. Restarting your computer or device may solve this temporary problem. You also may try to revert your connection to GPRS/EDGE only since its a totally different network. If this not solving your problem, its time to contact their contact centre. Log a report and wait until their technician team ratify the problem, usualy gonna take arround 3 working days.

Brief information on a mobile broadband system:
1) Subscriber who want to access internet (let say subscriber are using Vodafone E165G USB Modem), whenever the subscriber click "connect" button on the Mobile Partner application software, the computer will instruct the Modem to create or initiate a PDP (Packet Data Protocol) session and send it to the GSN (GPRS Support Node) System. The PDP session exploit the GSM network to reach the GSN system.

2) The GSN system encorporate 2 data nodes which process the incoming PDP session (called the SGSN [Serving GPRS Support Node] ) system and second one is the system which process and determine the connection to the internet (called the GGSN [Gateway GPRS Support Node] ).

3) So when you face an error like "sevice unavailable", "a connection to the remote computer cannot be established"-eventhough these error may be the result of your mulfunctioning/conflicting software and hardware, however most of the time these error may be attributed to the failure of the PDP session to be sent correctly to the SGSN system.

4) If you face an error like "Limited Connectivity" where the connection status is connected but in fact its not there at all, then the fault most probably lies on the the GGSN system. "Limited connectivity" error usually happen when your IP was not assigned correctly by your ISP provider. The GGSN determine what IP should be assigend to your computer so that your computer can communicate with the entire Internet network. If the GGSN failed to do so, automatically your computer will auto generate a dummy IP. What is the function of this dummy IP? Well, nothing to be precise. The IP only recognized by the host computer but annonymous in the eyes of the other computers on the network.

5) What is proxy and what is IP address?
Definitely they are two different "things". Usually proxy address is used within an internal network while IP address is used between network. However basicly they are both used as identification or as a communication method between a devices/clients or servers.

satu hapuk pon x faham.amry mau tanya, celcom ada masalah ke sekarang.dulu masa di wangsa maju ok tp skrg d shah alam asyik dc sj even bar dia lagi tinggi dr d w maju

haha sori la tak faham.. mmg bnyk masalah. cuba la reinstall dialling software tu kalo selalu sgt DC..sometimes ada bugs pada software ataupun kalau selalu sgt cabut modem tu improperly, it can create havoc to your computer`s registry. Hari tu saya test kat section 27 and area2 proton tu my connection is quite stable and no disconnection at all. Satu lagi cdgan cuba tukar USB cable tu..sometimes ianya boleh rosak or loose kat bahagian contact point USB port tu.
